EPISODE 67: STAY SANE SUMMER SERIES: HOW TO HAVE CHILDREN, A CAREER AND STAY SANE (ISH)

with Christine Armstrong

Summary

On today’s show, “Episode 67: Stay Sane Summer Series: How To Have Children, A Career And Stay Sane (ish)” Christine Armstrong, successful author, public speaker, and business owner joins us to discuss how it’s possible to be a working mum with a successful career while staying sane.

Christine was very successful at her career, then started her family, and saw firsthand the struggles that working mothers face. To address this, she wrote the book, The Mother of All Jobs: How to Have Children and a Career and Stay Sane(ish) and discovered many mums struggling in silence and wanted the book to give them a voice.

Show Notes:

“I meet families, and interview families all the time that feel a crippling sense of failure, like Why can’t I make this work? The narrative is, I’m supposed to make this work”

Christine faced this situation first-hand. While having a successful career, she also wanted to be the best mum she could be. Nevertheless, she struggled to balance both worlds and decided to write a book and interview hundreds of other mums in high stress careers to see uncover what was really going on.

Christine joins us today to talk about the double standard that mums have to put up with in the workplace, as well as the shame that mums have to deal with when everything isn’t as perfect as people expect.

She discusses what you can do to give you more ME time, and still get things done while getting the most out of your life. We also discussed how it’s critical to have a financial plan and a budget to know what’s possible so as to not put yourself under unnecessary pressure.

If you’re a working mother, who’s working a high-stress job and are struggling to cope this summer, then this will be a perfect episode for you. Enjoy
