What Do You Do to Remind Yourself That You Matter?
One of the core beliefs that run deep in people-pleasing behavior is the thought: "I don’t matter." And yet, we can prioritize our well-being and self-care to remind ourselves that we do matter.
Self-Care Rituals in the Mountains
So, I came to the mountains. Skiing has been a part of my life since I could walk. I’ve taught skiing to children and even trained for races with a UK club. It's my thing. In the past, I used to go with my family for a month at a time, but over the years, especially after becoming a mum, I put it on hold.
It didn’t seem as important to me anymore, and I made the expense the reason. But the truth is, skiing is more than just a hobby—it's one of my self-care rituals. It’s an experience that allows me to step into a space where I can focus on myself and my well-being.
Personal Wellbeing: Reconnecting with Joy
In fact, I wasn’t even going to come this year, but after a dream, I knew it was aligned. So, here I am with Leo—five days in Andorra. I felt a calling to return. While having dinner with Leo, I asked him if he’d be up for doing a trip like this every year. He said, "sure."
This experience has become a yearly personal wellbeing ritual for me. Coming to the mountains brings me joy—it's an embodied experience that reminds me "I matter."
Mountain Therapy: A Majestic Escape
Being in the mountains is more than just an activity—it's a form of mountain therapy. The majestic scenery, the crisp air, the pure thrill of skiing down a slope—all of this feeds my soul. It brings me peace and a sense of alignment with myself, reminding me that making time for myself is not just a luxury; it’s essential.
In these moments, I realize that skiing is not just about the physical experience, but it’s also about taking care of my mental and emotional health. This is my space to realign, to feel alive, and to reconnect with what brings me joy.
Prioritizing Self and Family
I now see this becoming a yearly ritual—one that allows me to prioritize myself and make sure I am taking care of my needs, as well as those of my little one. Being in the mountains with Leo is the perfect balance of adventure and bonding, where I can focus on my growth while sharing this beautiful experience with him.
